What are the earrings made of?
We use a mix of stainless steel, brass and plated iron for the tops and metal pieces on our polymer clay earrings. These are generally non-irritable, but we recommend checking to see if plated iron will react with your ears if they are overly sensitive. Contact our customer service team for custom metal options.
What are the necklaces made of?
Our necklace chains are made with gold filled jewelry which is a wonderful alternative to solid gold. It is a solid layer of gold bonded to another metal, meaning it should not leave your skin feeling irritated.
What is polymer clay?
Polymer clay is the material that we use for our earrings and necklaces. We create custom colors and unique shapes through the painstaking process of mixing, conditioning, and cutting clay. This makes the earrings incredibly light, and relatively durable and waterproof. However, our metal and additions to the pieces can make them slightly heavier or less element-resistant, so please see our full jewelry care section for more info.
How do I care for my jewelry
NEC jewelry can last for years if cared for properly. If jewelry needs to be cleaned, use warm, soapy water and then pat dry. Don’t rub the jewelry or bend the clay. While our clay is waterproof, we recommend avoiding chlorine, saltwater, and products such as lotion to prevent the metals from tarnishing faster. Additionally, our brass pieces do not hold up well in any kind of water, so please be mindful of your pieces, depending on the type of metals they are made with. Try to avoid sleeping with jewelry or leaving it in humid areas. Please never hesitate to reach out if you need help determining which metals your pieces are made with. We want your NEC to last you years.
Shipping
US domestic shipping
Every product has free shipping, to make things as convenient as possible. We only ship to the continental U.S. and not anywhere internationally. Once your order has been processed and made, we ship orders out through USPS.
Cancellations
We do not accept cancellations to orders because as soon as your order is placed, materials are ordered to make sure it is created. However, if you want to make adjustments (ex. combine two orders or change a color of a piece) please email our customer service team as soon as possible so we can try to accommodate you as best as we can.
Processing Times
As a small business that makes every piece by hand, we offer products on a ‘made to order’ basis, meaning that, as soon as you place your order, materials are ordered or clay pieces are conditioned and cut. For most of our clay earrings, current processing time is 5-9 days. For our necklaces, earrings made with brass pieces, and custom pieces, processing time may take up to 4 weeks. Please note that production time may increase during new collection releases or during holiday season.
Returns
Return Policy
We gladly accept returns if a piece arrives damaged or broken. Please send an email to our customer service team within 10 days of receiving the item, and we will refund or replace if necessary. *Does not apply to custom orders*
The Process
Time
We spend anywhere from 18 to 45 hours on every piece of jewelry we make. This includes mixing, conditioning and cutting clay, baking, setting, bonding, sanding, buffing, and assembling. This does not include packaging and shipping times. We usually spend several weeks planning collections.
Sustainability
We source as many of our products as we can from other small businesses, and make sure to use minimal packaging with the smallest box size, recyclable confetti, and a single sheet of tissue paper. We make sure to create every NEC piece ethically by hand, and promise to give you the quality you deserve.
